A girl just informed me that she used auto polish on her guitar.
She says it scratched the hell outta the finish.
Any one here ever heard of that sort of thing?

Thu, January 26, 2006 - 2:31 PMyup ...crazy ......also those scratch hiding polishes ...my friend was thinking it make his guitar look better....nah looked like black mud ............furniture polish another No-no ....had a Hamer fade in colour cause of that! -

Thu, January 26, 2006 - 2:51 PMI've been told by mutiple sources to NEVER use any thing but a mild solution of vinegar and water or a polish made solely for guitars. You can not only damage the finish, but can even hurt the wood and possibly ruin the guitar.

I have never put anything on a stringed instrument as the additional stuff may impact the tone but I ran in to a chick in another forum in a thread on granite countertops. She weighed in that Car polish wrecked the finish on a guitar.
That was news to me.
